We are looking forward to diving with you in 2016!

Welcome to the home of Greater Manchester's largest and best SCUBA diving club.

A great place to learn to SCUBA dive and to make life long friends.

Hazel Grove Sub Aqua Club (HGSAC) is a great place to learn to SCUBA dive and to make lifelong friends. A British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC) club managed by the Jubilee Trust, registered charity no. 275835 R, we take pleasure in introducing people to the wonders of diving and treasures of the British marine environment. One of Greater Manchester's friendliest, family orientated SCUBA diving clubs, we train divers from Manchester, Stockport, Bury, Oldham, Bolton, Trafford, Macclesfield, Bramhall, Prestbury, Bollington and beyond! Based in South Manchester, we are easily accessed from the M60 motorway. So if you’re an experienced diver looking for like-minded buddies to dive with, or you’ve never dived before and want to get started, give us a call or drop into the club and we’d be happy to talk to you.

What we do

HGSACs aim is to connect divers and get them diving. To do this we run both diver training, regular dives and longer dive trips. Many dive schools will teach you to dive but then are only interested in your money for more training courses. At HGSAC, going on dives and building up experience, passion and enjoyment of our hobby and the wider marine environment is just as important as progressing your skills at a speed and pace you are comfortable will. Our courses are free (materials charges may apply but these are very reasonable) and we'd much prefer you had the opportunity to go during and after the course and put your new-found knowledge into practice.

  • We run new diver training
  • We run cross-over training for divers from other agencies
  • We do dry suit training for those that learnt abroad
  • All members are encouraged to undertake Skills Development Courses (first aid, boat handling, O2 administration and photography)
  • Training is available for all BSAC diver grade courses up to first class diver
  • Dive trips run almost every weekend year-round
  • The club hosts regular social events throughout the year
  • A lively and active club night is held every Tuesday
  • We actively support women and youngsters entering the sport.

If you are at a club that doesn't dive, just out of university, new to the area or qualified on holiday, get in touch and we would be happy to help you and welcome you to HGSAC. All you need is a willingness to get involved. Contact us here for details

Already qualified?

Unlike many other clubs we welcome all divers from all agencies. HGSAC is a BSAC club and is proud of our link to BSAC, but we won’t push their ideas on you. The club is currently made up of around 30% non-BSAC members who get all the benefits of the club without crossing over to a BSAC qualification and without the constant pressure to do some new course from your Agency. Training and equipment for the job

We are in a position many dive clubs would envy. Unlike most UK Dive clubs and schools, HGSAC is lucky to have a large amount of very good equipment which is available for all members to use.

  • Three Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBS). All are fully equipped with anchors, 50 meters of line, flares, tools, spares etc.
    • A 5.5 meter Delta RIB
    • A  second 5.5 meter Delta RIB
    • a Humber 4.9 m RIB
  • Excellent training facilities including; large classroom, dedicated training committee, projectors, video and TV, charts.
  • Air compressor.
  • Complete oxygen kits - just in case.

We run lots of training within the club and consider it a club responsibility to progress divers through the phases of the BSAC scheme if they are interested, to facilitate happy and safe divers and dive trips!

We also arrange lots of dive trips and are keen to always arrange top quality trips for our club members where interest is expressed. Details of some recent trips can be found here, while details of what is happening at the club can be found here.

Everybody welcome

Many SCUBA diving clubs in the UK are forced to meet in local pubs making it difficult for families to attend. HGSAC is different. We share a private facility with Bramhall Tennis Club, meaning families and children are always welcome! The relaxing environment helps make everybody feel comfortable and at home. If a lot of families are expected, activities can be arranged to keep the children entertained and happy.

The club is especially proud of its young members (14-25) and female 'this girl can' policy, where we aim to provide a welcoming non-political family friendly environment for people to learn the sport and make new friends. Click here for more details.
